The "2nd Kyowon Group AI Challenge Competition," held by Kyowon Group to select and foster talented people in the AI field, ended successfully.
The Kyowon Group held an award ceremony on the 20th to select the final three teams, and awarded the winners a recruitment privilege and a total of 10 million won in prize money.
The competition lasted for about two months, starting with the contest in May. It is designed to discover business ideas using generative AI technology and secure excellent talent in the AI field.
A total of 586 people participated, of which 41 advanced to the finals and competed enthusiastically. In particular, 90% of the participants in the finals were college (graduate) students and 10% of general participants, showing high interest and participation of Generation Z.
In this competition, it was not limited to solving tasks in a specific field, but was able to freely present ideas. Participants proposed an advanced service model or presented new business ideas by incorporating generative AI technology through all business areas of the Kyowon Group, such as EduTech and travel.
As a result of the competition, "Apis," a joint team of Soongsil University and Gyeonggi University, which proposed AI services for learning coaching for college students based on university lectures such as major classes, was honored with the top prize. The "SWS" team, which announced a customized AI tutor for learners, and the "HYPE Salmon" team, which introduced a generative AI-based Korean language education service, ranked second and third, respectively.
The Kyowon Group plans to actively push for the idea that won this time to be actually commercialized.
An official from Kyowon Group said, "We are happy to be able to access various and creative ideas from AI model development to service planning through this challenge," adding, "We will continue to promote projects using generative AI, focusing on ideas selected as excellent works."
